Topic: THE PHARISEES
Word: Matthew 23:2 NLT
The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.
Here’s My Take:
HOW TO KNOW A PHARISEE:
6. A Pharisee is someone that hates the truth: The Bible said "the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor." Luke 20:19-20 KJV
The Pharisees hate truth like ants hate bitterness. Their worst enemy is someone that tells them the truth. They live freely and happily where there is so much lies and dishonesty than where people say the truth. They hate keeping truthful people as friends.
Everything about them is lies - their age, their source of wealth, relationship, etc. And because of their pattern of life, even their wives and children are their sheep - following their steps. They avoid the Truth, because truth reveals who they are and what they're hiding.
Conclusion:
The Pharisees were not happy with Jesus because he tells them the truth. They prefer hearing lies than the truth that comes from the Truth itself. Just like many of us...
Song:
Only remembered, only remembered,
Only remembered by what we have done;
Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,
Only remembered by what we have done.
Shall we be missed though by others succeeded,
Reaping the fields we in springtime have sown?
No, for the sowers may pass from their labors,
Only remembered by what they have done.
Prayer: May the Lord deliver us from the hands of the Pharisees. In Jesus name. Amen.
