Topic: THE PHARISEES
Word: Matthew 23:2 NLT
“The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.
Here’s My Take:
Jesus Encounter Me The Pharisees:
Luke 11:37-
Let’s examine Jesus’ response when one of the Pharisees who invited Him to a meal condemned Him for eating without first performing the ceremonial hand-washing required by Jewish custom (Luke 11:37–38 NLT).
Then the Lord said to him, “You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and wickedness! Fools! Didn’t God make the inside as well as the outside? So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over.” —Luke 11:39–41 NLT
The Lord’s response was audacious and direct. This boldness was one of the reasons the Pharisees constantly questioned His authority. They were uncomfortable with truth spoken without fear.
I noticed something important: this same Pharisaic attitude can be seen in today’s leadership—both in the Church and in the world. They often despise audacious people, especially those who are bold enough to point out where they are wrong.
Conclusion:
A Pharisee is someone who is threatened by your boldness and audacity and is constantly looking for a way to silence you—even when they know you are right.
Song:
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God, yes I am
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God, yes I am
Prayer:
Lord, may I not reason and act like the Pharisees. In Jesus name. Amen.
