Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
4. Disobedience:
Because of disobedience, the fish became a school where Jonah learned surrender. Disobedience complicates what obedience simplifies. It turns straight roads into chaotic journeys. When you disobey, God may enroll you in situations you never planned for. Jonah prayed only when the consequences surrounded him. That's how many only realize the cost of disobedience when they hit the deep.
His escape plan became his imprisonment. That’s what happens when we run from God — we run into trouble. Every delay Jonah caused was rooted in disobedience. Every deception Jonah displayed flowed from disobedience. Every disaster Jonah created was born from disobedience.
Disobedience is the mother that gives birth to storms. It is the seed that grows into confusion. It is the door through which trouble enters unnoticed. Jonah teaches that you cannot flee from God and find peace. You cannot escape obedience and escape storms at the same time.
Conclusion:
Peace begins where obedience begins. When Jonah surrendered, the sea surrendered. When Jonah obeyed, Nineveh was saved. Disobedience delays destiny, but obedience restores it. God still used Jonah — but only after he bowed. Because obedience is the key that unlocks divine purpose.
Song:
Every tongue in Heaven and Earth
Shall declare your glory
Every knee shall bow at your throne
In worship
You be Exalted Oh Lord
And your Kingdom shall not pass away
Oh Ancient of Days
Prayer:
Lord, please may we not be the Jonah of our lives. In Jesus. Amen
