Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!

Here's My Take:

What Jonah stands...

2. Deception:

Deception is peaceful only for a while.
It’s the calm before the spiritual tornado. Jonah represents people who run from accountability but still claim spirituality. He still called God “his God,” yet disobeyed Him. That’s religious deception—confessing God but denying obedience. Many today pray like Jonah but live like fugitives.

You can’t serve God and run from Him at the same time. Deception is the art of looking right while being wrong. Jonah looked like a prophet but behaved like a pretender. He had the title but lost the truth. He had the calling but ignored the Caller.

Deception makes you think you’re fine until truth confronts you. The greatest deceit is self-deception— when you lie to yourself. Jonah’s story teaches that hiding from God is the worst kind of deceit. Because you can never run from the One who sees everywhere. Deception is costly — it bought Jonah a ticket to disaster. But mercy saved him

Conclusion:
Every lie we live will one day demand a storm to expose it. Better to confess early than to be uncovered late. Jonah’s deception ended when he faced the truth — and so can yours.

Song:
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

Prayer:
Lord, may we not be Jonah of our time. In Jesus. Amen
